Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager for Ski Patrol will assist in all aspects of coordinating Ski Patrol.This is a managerial position tasked with performing at a global level, capable of prioritizing and strategizing all facets of the job with the intent of aligning the team internally,between bases, and with the strengths and values of the Company.Assist in preparing and managing both operational and capital budgets.Ensures patrollers are trained and prepared to respond to all emergent situations at the ski resort.This position must be committed to providing the highest standard of service.The job requires strong leadership qualities, the ability to problem seek/solve, and use creativity to build a positive,winning culture while building a robust team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads all aspects of the day to day operations of Ski Patrol, including all facets of guest service, guest safety, medical care,mountain safety,and mountain maintenance and lift evacuation.
  • Leads first and foremost with the Vail Leadership Competencies and Values,using the behavioral anchors as a guide on leadership style
  • Possesses strong leadership skills and has the capacity to develop the leadership skills of others including patrol team leads,leads and line staff

  • Conducts administrative duties such as goal setting,performance management,performance appraisals,coordinating and ensuring the quality assurance of training, scheduling, work comp, payroll, budget management and anything else vital for successful operation.
  • Functions appropriately in the absence of the Ski Patrol Manager and/or Senior Manager.
  • Works closely with other on mountain departments and managers and third party agencies.
  • Demonstrates proven understanding of mountain operations, including but not limited to:snowmaking, slope maintenance, risk management, terrain parks, lift maintenance, race crew, lift operations, mountain safety, mountain dining, special events, and transportation.
  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regards to employee engagement, positive reinforcement, disciplinary and corrective action, and detailed mid and end of season reviews.
  • Holds employees accountable to the Employee Manual and Patrol Manual.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and strong guest service skills.

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • 5 years ski patrol experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and be able to navigate Vail Resorts platforms
  • Handle friction with subtlety and tact
  • Must be successful with influencing a positive culture, leading change, empowering the workforce and driving employee engagement
  • Must have and keep medical certification
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays as required
  • Proficient in English
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

 

The expected pay range is $27.00 - $32.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
