Overview HJF is seeking an Associate Scientist responsible for developing and supervising research projects, applying scientific principles to inventions, products, and problems. This role supports the Military Health Economics and Policy Research Laboratory (MILHEP) within the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the USU School of Medicine. The MILHEP conducts research to understand policy effects and system factors influencing the Military Health System's effectiveness, efficiency, and equity, utilizing economic, econometric, and computational methods. Current projects include: Assessment of Military Health System consolidation impacts on utilization, cost, quality, and readiness. Evaluation of TRICARE’s behavioral health benefit expansions on utilization and health outcomes. This position involves research in health economics, policy, and health services, focusing on military and U.S. healthcare systems. Responsibilities Formulate hypotheses and design experiments. Contribute to grant applications. Process and interpret data. Prepare data for presentations and publications. Coordinate and possibly supervise staff. Draft funding proposals and scientific manuscripts. Qualifications Doctoral degree in health policy, health economics, public health, or related field. 0-2 years post-doctoral experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills. Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot procedures. Teamwork and independent work capability. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a T3/Secret clearance. Additional Information Position is primarily in an office setting. Salary range: $57,650 - $87,000. Comprehensive benefits package. Employment contingent upon background check. Qualifications as equivalents require prior approval.
