Job Title: Senior Risk Management Consultant

End Client: Office of Risk Management, Bowie State University

Rate: $39/hr - $68/hr

Location: Bowie, MD 20715

Position Overview:

The Senior Risk Management Consultant will lead the strategic development and refinement of institutional risk management policies. This role ensures that deliverables align with regulatory standards, higher education best practices, and Bowie State University's strategic goals.

Key Duties:

  • Lead policy review and development efforts in coordination with university stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of existing risk policies, audit findings, and risk registry documentation.
  • Oversee benchmarking against peer institutions’ risk management frameworks.
  • Facilitate stakeholder interviews and working sessions.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for program improvements and risk governance structures.
  • Present findings and recommendations to project leads and senior university officials.
  • Supervise the development of implementation tools and templates.
  • Ensure project milestones are met on schedule and within scope.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Risk Management, Public Administration, Business, Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in risk policy development, ideally in higher education or public institutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional projects and client-facing engagements.

Desired Skills/Tools/Technologies:

  • Experience working in public sector
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project).
  • Experience working with risk registries, risk scoring models, and impact-likelihood matrices.

Additional Notes:

  • Must be able to synthesize technical findings into actionable institutional policies and frameworks.
