The State of New Hampshire, Department of State, Division of archives and Records Management has a full time vacancy for State Records Manager. Summary: To coordinate and perform all duties relating to the State's Records Management Program, and to provide complex clerical work requiring specialized knowledge of records management and departmental operations in the collection and preservation of historical documents. Responsibilities: Manages, supervises, and trains records and archives staff in department procedures pertaining to records management and archive activities/methodologies. Responsible for records retention schedule, classification and storage schemes, regardless of media or physical format. This specifically includes e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing documents, databases, and (where applicable) image files, as well as paper and microform/microfilm records. Evaluates and develops legal and historical retention methods for archiving state records that comply with state policies and procedures; oversees the proper destruction of disposable records as needed. Works with committees, groups, and individuals on guidelines, procedures, and policies that affect the maintenance and disposition of records and the media in which they are stored. Reviews requests for materials and equipment needed by individuals, groups, and departments, to perform records management activities. Establishes and reviews ongoing controls and procedures with management, in order to continuously improve upon the State's Records Management Program. YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in business administration, library science, or history. Experience: Four years' administrative experience in work related to research, records management, archives, office management, historical studies, or a related field with at least one year of supervisory experience and exposure to basic data processing.
