Position Overview:

The Revenue Manager plays a pivotal role within the accounting team, specializing in the accurate recognition, analysis, and reporting of revenue in compliance with applicable accounting standards. This position ensures the integrity of revenue-related financial data and collaborates with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize revenue reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying and resolving revenue accounting issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606), company policies, and customer contracts. 
  • Contract Review: Analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment and ensure proper documentation of key terms. 
  • Deferred Revenue Management: Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue accounts, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of revenue. 
  • Monthly Close Activities: Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue and accounts receivable as part of the month-end close process. 
  • Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of revenue, accounts receivable, and related accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. 
  • Revenue Reporting: Prepare revenue-related schedules and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including management and auditors. 
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting. 
  • Audit Support: Assist with external and internal audits by preparing detailed revenue schedules, reports, and supporting documentation. 
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and accounting standards related to revenue recognition. 
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the accounting team. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Accounting or Finance required. 
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on revenue accounting or similar functions. 
  • Comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP, with a particular emphasis on revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606). 
  • Experience working in an emerging growth company, as well as experience in a private equity or investor portfolio company, is highly preferred. 
  • SAAS experience is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations preferred). 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of revenue accounting principles, including GAAP and relevant regulations. 
  • Data Analysis and Excel Expertise: Proficient in data analysis and spreadsheet tools, including advanced functions like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros. 
  • Detail-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to manage detailed financial records with accuracy and precision. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly present complex financial data and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions proactively. 
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
